Is there a temporary ban on Bank of Baroda app
There is a temporary ban on the Bank of Baroda (BoB) mobile app for new customers. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) imposed the ban in September 2023 following lapses in the bank’s onboarding process.
The RBI found that some BoB employees had used mobile numbers of strangers to onboard customers for mobile banking to meet enrolment targets. The central bank also found that the bank had not implemented all the necessary security measures to prevent such fraudulent activities.
The ban on the BoB mobile app for new customers is a punitive measure taken by the RBI to protect consumers and to ensure that banks follow the necessary onboarding procedures. The ban is expected to remain in place until the BoB addresses the RBI’s concerns.
Existing BoB mobile app users are not affected by the ban. They can continue to use the app as usual.
If you are a new customer and need to access BoB mobile banking services, you can use the bank’s internet banking portal. You can also visit a BoB branch to open an account and access mobile banking services.
The BoB has said that it is working to address the RBI’s concerns and to lift the ban on its mobile app for new customers as soon as possible.
