Saturn is the planet with the most moons in our solar system. Recently, 128 new moons have been discovered orbiting Saturn. Scientists from Taiwan, Canada, the United States, and France have discovered these new planets. The International Space Station recognized this discovery on March 11.
Scientists have been continuously monitoring Saturn from 2019 to 2021 using a telescope called the Canada France Hawaii Telescope (CFHT). 62 new moons were discovered in this study. Similarly, Saturn has been continuously monitored in the following years.
Some of the moons discovered are very small. They are only a few kilometers wide. These are fragments that were broken up when larger moons collided. The study concluded that Saturn has a total of 274 moons.
